Obituary of Hillis Briggs
Hillis Briggs was born in Carsonille on May 22, 1939 and was the son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Parlee) Briggs.
He was a retired Electrical and Plumbing Contractor and a member of Christadelphian Church.
Hillis went to school in Carsonville in a one room school house. As a young man he worked in the woods and on farms to help take care of his family. At the age of sixteen, Hillis moved to Toronto where he worked with his brother Doug. While in Toronto, he met and married Marlene and after the birth of their first child, they moved back to New Brunswick.
Hillis worked as both a plumber and electrician and was one of very few people that held a license for both trades. His greatest pride was his family and he worked very hard to make sure they had all they needed.
Hillis had many interests: He loved all things that had to do with nature and especially animals. He enjoyed gardening and walking through the woods to look for spring flowers. He had a thirst for knowledge and embraced the challenge of learning to speak french. He was interested in the stars and liked to point out constellations.
After retirement, you could always find Hillis at Tim Horton's chatting with his buddies. He loved a good cup of tea and when offered one, he would reply, "that'd be nice". He had a great sense of humor and he loved to talk. Halloween for the girls would take hours as every house they stopped at, he would have to stay and visit.
Hillis loved his country and insisted on everything he bought be made in Canada. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who gladly gave what ever he had to those in need. The legacy he leaves behind to his family and friends is that he loved unconditionally and was proud of everything they did.
He will be missed.
