I will always remember Dan's zeal and passion for the Lord and his commitment to Jesus. I gave him a car once when I found out about his need. It just seemed like the right thing to do. But I remember him particularly in an Old Testament theology class. We were talking about how modern scholars do not admit the miraculous into their study of the Bible. But that this was often determined by their experience: they had never experienced a miracle. Before class Dan had come to me and told me that he had needed a precise amount of money to continue his education and he had needed that money today! The amount was well over a 1000 dollars and he told me with joy how he had just received the precise amount in the mail from an unknown donor! I used his story as a perfect object lesson in my theology class to show that those of us who have experienced the miraculous, study the Bible differently from those who have not. Dan was a special witness for God in this life!I give thanks for him!

I met Dan when he became part of the Gloria Dei Singers under the direction of Mrs. Shirley Cooper. He was a welcome addition to our interdenominational choir; I remember so well the many wonderful solos he performed. He was not only great with his voice but a great man to know. My first memories of "Danny" are as a young boy on the school bus heading to Hampton. Being much older, I am sure he often sat close by and I know he often sat with my brothers. To me Dan is a beautiful illustration of God's gracious hand reaching down to a young boy and providing him with the saving grace of a loving Lord and leading him to do great things for Him here on earth. I saw him last at my father's funeral and recall so well, his gentleness and passion for the Lord. It was so evident that God had provided a way for Dan and was taking care of him. While I rejoice with you that he is pain free and with His Lord, my heart grieves for you , his family as you mourn this great loss. May God sustain you with His peace and comfort and may those of us who remain here on earth continue the good work Dan has begun. We so enjoyed having Dan as part of our New Canaan community for 5 years. We loved his company, his caring ways, his ermons,singing and more. We will forever remember Sunday School picnics and games, and vacation bible school times singing, "When the Storm Rolls". Dan and family have had many wonderful times and stormy times too, but he was always faithful regardless of those storms. Marilee and family, our hearts go out to you in your time of sorrow, but Dan is whole again and singing, and we will see him again one day.

I spent an hour sitting beside Dan Rodgerson at a public speaking competition that each of our daughters were involved in. We had a conversation that could only be held between total strangers like us or old friends. He was a very interesting and interested man. Back in 1990 Danny sang at our wedding. People commented on how beautiful the music was and what an angel like voice they had heard. Never again since that day have we heard such a wonderful sound. After almost 23 years of attending weddings we still find no comparison to what we heard that day. A wonderful man with a wonderful voice sang at our wedding that day. Bobby and Evelyn will always remember Danny with happy thoughts and fond memories of that special day.
