Helen was born in Sussex on January 22, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Harry and Ollie (McLeod) Wallace. Helen met Ray many years ago when they both worked at the Public Works Garage. She was a secretary and he a mechanic and on October 23, 1954 they began a marriage that would last for fifty eight years. Helen enjoyed taking care of her family. She liked to cook and take care of the house. She was famous for her wonderful Sunday dinners which everyone looked forward to. She made her own jelly and baked pies and cakes that were delicious. There was always a seat at the table of the Ness home and Helen welcomed all who came. She was kind and caring; doing whatever was needed to help someone out. She loved to send out cards to people with special occasions or someone in need of a get well wish. She loved talking on the phone as well as working on her flower beds. Helen loved and supported her family in all they chose to do. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who met her and she will be missed. Helen is survived by her husband Ray; her daughter Kathy Reicker and her husband Ken of Sussex, her son Michael Ness and his wife Stephanie of Sussex, her brother Ron Wallace and his wife Bernice of Penobsquis; five grandchildren:Danny Reicker and his wife Amy, Tony Reicker and his wife Meredith,Greg Reicker and his wife Linsey, Andrew and Matthew Ness; three great grandchildren: Adelaide,Brayden and Zachary, all of Sussex; four brothers-in-law: Ronnie Ness of Belleisle, Jack Ness and his wife Madeline, Allan Ness , Bob Ness and his wife Eleanor; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Wallace, Hatti Northrup and Mary Joynes and her husband Howard; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Helen (Wallace) Ness of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on January 12, 2013 at the age of 80. She was predeceased by her sister Jean and her two brothers: George and John. Arrangements are entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, Sussex, from where visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A celebration of Helen's life will be held from Sussex Baptist Church on January 16, 2013 at 2:00pm with Dr. Rev. Leo Gallant officiating. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery, Penobsquis in the spring. Memorial Donations made to the Sussex Baptist Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
