The family of Enid Ella (Rouse) Edson, with God's comfort and strength, wish to announce Enid's passing on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, with her five children at her side. She was 95 years of age. Enid was born in Cornhill on January 21, 1918 to the late Frank Hazen and Ellen Jane Rouse. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of 17. Enid's life was her family, husband Joe, children and grandchildren. She was her happiest with the house full of kids, during weekends and holidays, devouring a table full of food. The most delicious pies, layer cakes, home made bread, cookies and, of course, ice cream, her favorite food. She was a member of the Corn Hill United Baptist Church and a life member of the Corn Hill Women's Institute and was well known for her butter tarts for the WI's Christmas Seniors Baskets. Enid taught us all that family is the most important blessing that God gives us. She looked forward to the annual Rouse reunion and was able to attend well into her early 90's. We, her children and grandchildren are all so proud to have had this wonderful woman as "our" Mother and Grammie. She leaves to carry on her legacy, her five children: Art (Kathy) of Riverview, NB, Paul (Alice) of Quispamsis, NB, Barb Steeves (Brian) of Elgin, NB, Debbie Dell (Carl) of Sussex, NB and Mary Ellen Dunfield (Danny) of Bangor, ME; twelve grandchildren: Joanne Burrell, Crystal Butland (Carl Grant), Jill McInnis (Brad), Jerrod Edson (Leigh), Joel Edson (Karina), Lisa Taylor (Clint Douthwright), Kenny Steeves (Terry), April Steeves (Kent), Angel Boyd (Shaun), Colby Dell (Christine Hodgin), Ryan Middleton and Travis Middleton; two step grandchildren: Darryl and Jerrod Dunfield; great grandchildren: Sean Edson, Jamie Burrell, Karley Burrell, Grant Butland, Mark Butland, Hadley Edson, Emma Edson, Colton Middleton, Chelsea Middleton, Cody Steeves, Graydon Steeves, Preston Steeves, Chloe Dell and Ava Lynne Middleton; two great great grandchildren: Tessa and Gracie Edson as well as several nieces and nephews. Enid was predeceased by her husband Joe, grandson Nicky Steeves, and grand son in law Johnny Taylor. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506) 433-1176. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12 from 6-8pm. A Celebration of Enid's life will be held from the Wallace Funeral Home Community Chapel on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00am.
