In the summer of1981 I had a placement in Sussex as a 2nd year medical student. I learned lots of interesting and exciting medical stuff . But one of the things that has really stuck with me was how much Dr Ralph really enjoyed his work and his patients. At the end of the day he would stick his big shoes up on his desk and give that great smile. After his first post clinic puff, he would say to me "Well young man, what do you think of that?! "
I became a GP in Saint John and only saw Ralph at meetings after that. He continued to greet me as "Young Man". I don't get that much any more ! Thanks Ralph . For that and showing me the rewarding world of Family Practice.

Dr. Ralph Brooks was one of a kind. A terrific sense of humour, a quick wit & a ready smile, he was a great member of the Medical staff. I enjoyed our chats on the wards in earlier days & his stories about Vegas & Atlantic City. My only regret is that I never got down for a visit after he retired. I will miss him, as will his many patients who still ask about him.

Dr. Brooks was both Dad's (Alan King) and Mom's (Viola King) Doctor. They both admired him and thought of him as a friend. When my Dad and later my Mom got sick, he would come to the house to see them. Dr. Brooks was very kind to me and only wanted my parents not to suffer. I never forgot that & have mentioned it to many over the years. My brother, Gary, also had him for a Doctor for awhile and said that it was always a good appointment as they would both talk about one of their common interest - going to "Vegas". Dr. Brooks was a good Doctor and a kind friend to my family. I thank him for that. He deserves a rest now. God bless him.......Tania King-Macneill
