John was born in Bathurst on May 1, 1928 and was the son of Frederick and Agatha Bateman. John was a Korean War Vet. He served overseas during WWII with the Green Beret. He was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20 and a member of the Fish and Game Association. John is survived by his four sisters: Joan Tingley of Peterborough, ON, Helen Slocum and her husband Vernon of Dundas, ON, Marjorie Oulette and her husband Roger of Cheulavista, CA, and Barbara Bouchard and her husband Joe of Scarborough, ME as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. John Frederick Bateman, formerly of Penobsquis, passed away April 3, 2013 at the Ridgewood Veteran's Wing in Saint John, NB. He was predeceased by his brother Roderick.
