Obituary of Hazel Elizabeth Mercer

Hazel was born on April 14, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel (Otis) Campbell and was the wife of the late Joseph A. Mercer, who passed away in 1998. Hazel was a member of the Southfield United Church, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #20 and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #20 Ladies Auxillary. Hazel served in R.C.A.F. (W.D.) in WWII and was very proud to have served her country. Hazel was also a member of the Kings East PC Ladies. Hazel will continue to live on in the hearts of her daughter, Joanne McMullin and her husband Bernie of Westville, NS; her sons: Bruce of Quispamsis and Brent and his wife Susan of Rothesay; her grandchildren: Dawn Craig and her husband Darryl, Mark McMullin and his wife Kristen, Ryan, Lindsay, Gordon and Andrew Mercer; her great granddaughters, Emily and Kaitlyn McMullin; her brother-in-law: Carl Mercer (Margaret) of Norton; her sisters-in-law: Dodie Campbell and Annie Johnson, both of Norton,and Barbara Buchanan of Petitcodiac, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Hazel Elizabeth Mercer of Ratters Corner passed away on June 24, 2013 at the age of 89. She is predeceased by her daughter-in-law Linda; seven brothers: Douglas, Murray, Ralph, Vernon, Melbourne, Ora and Norman Campbell and two sisters: Freda Snowden and Helen Proctor. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 1-3 and 6-8pm. The Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch #20 will be holding a tribute at 5:45pm. A service celebrating Hazel's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 2:00pm. A private family interment will take place at Trinity Cemetery.
