Obituary of Judith Ann Asselstine

Judy was born in Saint John on April 19th 1947. She was the only child of Flora Mable (Fawcett) and Ernest Joseph Prosser. Judy was the proud mother of five children: three daughters Connie McDermott and her husband Paul of Newtown, Debbie May of Alberta and Cheryl Brown and her husband Andrew of Ontario;two sons Jim McGrath and his wife Evelyn of Alberta and Ernie McGrath and his wife Jessica of Cherryvale; eleven grandchildren: Damien, Danielle, Jessie, Amanda, Cory, Amy, Alex, Kate, Meghan,Christopher and Keiran and three great grandchildren Jacobi, Skyler and Chloe. Judy loved to sing in the choir and was devoted to her faith and her churches. All friends and family that knew Judy, knew she was a social butterfly and loved a good laugh. You never knew when she was going to drop in for a visit. It has been said that when Judy got an idea in her head there's no talking her out of it HENCE! her many many movies in her life but had a special gift of making any house a home. Raising and loving five children on her own she knew what it was to be a hard worker and instilled this quality in all of her children. In the last ten years or so Judy has struggled with many health issues, In 2005 she was a fortunate to receive a liver transplant; giving her and her family more time together, and because of that gift Judy, herself became a donor. If she could talk you into anything today it would be to finding the Lord and becoming an organ donor. As much as all who loved her will miss her, we take great comfort in knowing that she is walking hand in hand with her beloved Frank in heaven. Note to family and friends: Judy has been ready for this day for a long time, she herself took pride in planning and sharing this day which felt was a celebrations, as she was going home. Mrs. Judith Ann Asselstine of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on June 26, 2013. She is predeceased by her wonderful companion, Frank Tokarz who passed away in 2012. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, from 6-8pm.
