Obituary of Chester Francis Wilkins
Chester Wilkins was born in Saint John on October 17, 1922, he was the son of the late Reginald and Matilda (Samson) Wilkins and was the husband of the late Aleta (Prosser) Wilkins who passed away in 1995. Chester served in the Canadian Army in WWII, where he was wounded. He worked at the Atlantic Sugar Refinery and the Saint John Winter Port until his retirement.
He will live on in the hearts of his daughter, Susan Black and her husband Doug of Sussex; his sons: Wayne and his wife Brenda of Sussex Corner and David of Dartmouth; his brothers: Ron Wilkins of Saint John and Douglas of Lorneville; his sisters: Doreen Coggins and Pat Mason both of Saint John and Geraldine Neilsen of St. Catherines, ON; his grandchildren: Melissa of Sussex, DJ of Sussex, Crista and Tim Vail of Apohaqui and Lisa and Tommy Otis of Roachville; his great grandchildren: Justin, Jackson, Emily, Brandon and Cameron; a great grandsons Justin and Trai-Jordan, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Chester Francis Wilkins of Norton passed away at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing on June 29, 2013 at the age of 90. He is predeceased by his brothers: Reginald, Donald, and Harold; his sister, Shirley Gauvin, his sisters-in-law: Betty Wilkins, Hilda Wilkins and Doreen Wilkins; and by his brothers-in-law: Ray Coggins, Skip Neilson and Ernest "Pinky" Gauvin.
Chester will greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Tuesday 1-3 and 6-8pm.
The Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch #20 will hold a Tribute Service at Wallace Funeral Home Tuesday evening at 5:45.
A service celebrating Chester's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11:00 am with the interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Aiton Rd. followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, Magnolia Ave. Sussex.
