Obituary of John Raymond McMackin
Mr. John Raymond McMackin of Moncton, and formerly of Sussex, NB, passed away at the Veteran's Health Center on July 6, 2013 at the age of 92. He was born in Wards Creek, NB on October 16, 1920 and was the son of the late John and Annie (Quirk) McMackin.
Ray graduated from Sussex High School and the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, private contractors and federal government on various construction projects across Canada. He served as a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He served overseas during WWII and operated from bases in the United Kingdom, Africa and Italy.
Ray is survived by his sister Marion Doherty and his brother in law Roger St. Arnaud as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raymond is predeceased by his brothers: Lawrence and his wife Geraldine, Clarence and his wife Marion as well as by his sister Helen St. Arnaud.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176).
In honour of Ray's request, a graveside service celebrating his life will be held from Wards Creek Cemetery at a later date.
