Kevin, I was so sorry to hear of your Mothers passing. I was away and apologize for not being there in person to give my condolences. Your Mom and Dad were very special to me and my family and will be sadly missed. It is not easy losing your mother as it is just over a year since Mom passed away and there is not a day goes by that she is not in my thoughts. You are certainly in our thoughts and prayers. Kevin: It was only a couple of days before Judy from Bowmanville called me to tell me "Gert" had passed away that Bettina and I had commented that I hadn't called you for some time. I now am most unhappy that I didn't follow my instincts. I think only you and Gert's close family grieve her loss more than I do. Many times I told Frank and Gert that they were the adult role models I wished I had grown up with and that I admired them as the parents I did not have. Like Mike Connolly I remember the great dinners that Gert made and the times she let me share her kitchen with her, remember the ravioli? Being a rather skinny kid in those days, she all but forced me to have lunch with her and Frank during my stay in Sussex. It didn't really take a lot of convincing, who could turn down one of her meals often including those little green things, I can't remember the name they looked like miniature ferns, along with fresh mushrooms she'd picked? Gert and I spent some hours talking about life, her messages help me grow in ways I never thought I would. Like the mother I'd love to have had, I will miss her; though I have the benefit of having known her for the few months I spent in Sussex and the times afterward that extended to her end. Please accept our condolences and also, hope you will stay in touch. Doug

Kevin, my regrets on the passing of your mom. She was a fine lady and always full of fun when Judi and I knew her in our early days in Sussex. She hosted great detachment meals and made the best rabbit and partridge stew with dumplings and the works. All I had to do was bring in the game and she was game to throw a fun meal for all. She also was a great moral support to Frank when relief from the pressure of the job was called for. Mike Connolly
