Obituary of Helen Olive Johnston

Helen was born April 11, 1933 in Codys NB. She was the daughter of the late John Owens and Marion Brewster. As an infant her Dad brought her home where she was raised by him, her grandparents and her aunt Helen, who was like a Mom to her. She later left home to teach school at Hillsdale, where she met and married Karrl Johnston. Her teaching career was short lived as they started raising their family of 14. This was never a regret for her; she found her perfect career being the greatest "Mum" with more patience and love than any child could have asked for. Helen and Karrl were blessed with 53 years of marriage that ended on May 5th of this year when Karrl passed away. Her heart was broken and on August 28th she rejoined him and again are walking together side by side. Helen will continue to live on in the hearts of her children: Harvey Johnston and his wife Carolyn of Hampton, Pamela Jennings and her husband Albert of Baxter's Corner, Karla Kilpatrick and her husband Mike of Penobsquis, John Johnston and his wife Louise of Saint John, Corey Johnston and his wife Karen of Saint John, Manford Johnston and his wife Janet of Codys, Lyndon Johnston and his wife Linda Saint John, Krista Daley and her husband Mark of Saint John, Newton Johnston and his wife Lori of Penobsquis, Allan Johnston and his wife Cynthia of Belleisle, Matthew Johnston and Russ of Halifax, Cliff Johnston and his wife Tania of Saint John, and Kristina Watters and her husband Dale of Codys; her grandchildren: Neil, Amy, Sarah, Albert, Carol, Crystal, Nicholas, Kelvin, Jeff, Christopher, Craig, Brittany, Madison, Nick, Alexis, Olivia, Adam, Corey, Meaghan, Danielle, Morgan, Cayleigh, Reilly, Kurtis, Katelynn, Warren, Katie, Sapphia, Consuelo, Jesse, Robert, Evelyn, Bailey, Dawson and Karrlie; three sisters: Cora Allen, Lynn Starkey and Dianne Potts, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Helen Olive (Owens) Johnston of Saint John passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 28, 2013 at the age of 80. She is predeceased by her son Gene, her brother Keith, her sister Olive and by her nephew Scott Dempster Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Friday, August 30th from 1-3 and 6-8pm.
