Obituary of Ruby Fay Hayward

Ruby was born in Newtown on January 10, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Kempt and Edna (Hall) Clain and the wife of the late William Hayward, who passed away in 2000. Ruby endured many hardships during the depression. She received her early education in a one room school house in Newtown and continued high school in Sussex, where she completed grade ten. She moved to Ontario where she was employed with Victory Air Craft and was part of the assembly line, making airplane parts for planes during WWII. Ruby soon moved back to Sussex where she was employed with Harper's Jewelry store until she met and married her life partner William Hayward in 1947. Together they raised six children. Ruby was a stay at home mom for many years. Until she took a few part time jobs at McCready's Pickling Factory and Dave's Restaurant as a dish washer to help with household needs. She was a devote member of the Sussex Baptist Church; she loved her family and her Lord. Ruby's legacy will live on in the hearts of her three daughters: Susan Graham and her husband Cortland of Picadilly, Nancy Desruisseau and her husband Doug of Belleisle Creek and Janice Owens and her husband Ronald of Moncton; three sons: Arthur of Fort McMurray, Joseph and his wife Laura of Port Coquitlam, BC and Brian and his wife Lana of Saint John; her grandchildren: Larry (Darlene), Julia (Damien), Ben, Kim, Trevor (Shannon), Jamie (Sue), Troy (Anne Marie), Tanya (Lawrence), Todd, Wanda (Blair), Shannon (Fred), Dwayne and their mother Johanne Arsenault, Andrea (Jeremiah), Danny (Amy), Michael (Chantel), Jason (Monica, Angie (Michael) and their father Gilles Arsenault; great grandchildren: Derek, Trevor, Emily, Baron, Katrina, Larissa, Brandon, Kyle, Jordan, Gracie, Freddie, Faith, Alyssa, Abby, Zachary, Callie, Jessica, Emily, Laura, Nick (Tara), Josh (Katarina), Josiah, Kyle, Kaylie, Tricia, Andrew, Cassandra, Simon, Marissa, Emily, Jesse,Kaylee, Max and Brooklyn; as well as several nieces and nephews. Ruby is predeceased by her sisters: Laura Deforest and Emma Burgess. Mrs. Ruby Fay (Clain) Hayward of Sussex left this world on a soft summer breeze for a final and welcomed sleep to be in the warm embrace of her Lord on September 3, 2013, at the Sussex Health Centre at the age of 91. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Thursday September 5th, from 1-3 and 6-8pm. A service celebrating Ruby's life will be held from Sussex Baptist Church on Friday September 6th at 11:00am followed by a time of fellowship in the Church basement. The Interment will take place at Newtown Baptist Cemetery.
