Obituary of Barry Lorne King

Barry was born in Charlottetown on January 19, 1949 and was the son of the late Ernest Allan and J. Viola (Wood) King. Barry was a lover of all music and was an avid record collector. He was on top of the "next big thing" in music and was always right. He also enjoyed golfing, reading and hockey. He especially loved the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Moncton Wildcats. Most of all, Barry loved his family and had close knit and unique relationships with all of them; immediate and extended. He will be remembered and loved for his easy going way, his ease of laughter and his unique ability to bring that out in anyone who knew him. Barry spent his career working in the accounting field. He was employed as the Financial Controller at Doug Bragg Enterprises in Collingwood, NS and considered the Bragg's his extended family. It is with great sadness that we inform you that after a brief illness Mr. Barry Lorne King of Riverview passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax, NS at the age of 64, on the evening of September 7th, with his loving family by his side. Barry will live on in the hearts of Beatrice (Homer), his loving wife of 38 years; his adoring daughters: Amanda King of Riverview and Lindsay King-Lawless and her husband Matthew of Dieppe, his fur-granddaughters: Lola and Kitty. He will also remain in the hearts and minds of his only sister, Tania King MacNeill of Sussex; his brothers: Dennis and his wife Lynne of Newcastle, ON, Ron and his wife Jan of Sussex, and Lance and his wife Lorraine of Saint John; his brother-in-laws: Bev Homer and his wife Darlene of Charlottetown, PE, and Greg Homer and Kerry Moore of Fall River, NS; his sister-in-laws: Mary Northrup, and Cathy Lyttle and her husband Blair, all of Sussex Corner; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins that have been touched by his presence in their lives. Barry is predeceased by his brother, Gary who passed away in 2011. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10th from 6-8pm and on Wednesday, September 11th from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. A Service Celebrating Barry's life will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 2pm from St. John's United Church in Sussex Corner, NB. The family will be receiving relatives and friends immediately following the service at the St. John's United Church Centre. A private interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery in Norton, NB at a later date. If you are considering making a memorial donation the family has recommended the: The Heart & Stroke Foundation, Moncton Headstart, Food Depot Alimentaire in Moncton or a charity of your choice. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
