Obituary of Charles Thomas Main

Charlie was born in Lingley, NB on December 30, 1925. He was the son of the late Dr. Wilmot and Helen (Aldcroft) Main and husband of Betty (Thomson) Main of Apohaqui. Charlie graduated from Saint John Vocational School, of which his father was the principal. Following his graduation, he joined the Canadian Navy. After his time with the Navy, Charlie went to work and became a highly successful salesman, holding down two jobs as District Manager. In May of 1970, he started the first of five UAP/NAPA Automotive Parts Stores which would include Sussex Auto Supplies, A-1 Auto Supplies (Chipman), Petitcodiac Auto Supplies, Minto Auto Supplies and Hampton Auto Supplies. Charlie was always proud of his family stores and loved the people who worked there. Charlie joined the Rotary Club and became President in 1992-1993. He received the Paul Harris Award, one of the highlights in his working career; which is awarded for over and above contributions in Rotary. Charlie was well known for the many many church services he preached as a lay-reader in Apohaqui. He truly loved traveling to different places, such as Bethany Bible College to spread the word of God. Charlie loved his family and was very proud of their accomplishments. He and Betty had a wonderful life, making many memories along the way. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
