Flora was born in Cambridge Narrows on March 22, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Flossie (Corey) McGarity and the wife of the late Gordon Jenkins, who passed away in 2009. Flora met Gordon at a dance at the Orange Hall when she was 16 years old; Gordon was 19. The two were married, and together they raised a beautiful family. Flora and Gordon had a wonderful life together, whether it was going to the camp or leaving in the spring for Florida...they enjoyed spending their time adventuring together. Flora loved going on the skidoo with Gordon and ending up at the camp. Many times, they would just go in for a meal and then go back home. Flora enjoyed playing crib, which she would do at the Seniors Hall and would be very competitive. She loved being outdoors more than in the house. She loved gardening and especially picking May flowers. She enjoyed feeding the birds, making Fred keep the snow shoveled away from them during the winter. Flora was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Family and friends were everything to her and especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to their visits and missed them when they were not there. Flora will be lovingly remembered by her children: Sarah Crealock and her husband Dale of Pearsonville, Brian Jenkins and his wife Kathy of Cambridge Narrows and Fred Jenkins and his wife Marilyn of Cambridge Narrows; her foster children: Sue Sellick and Harry Gallant of Ripples and Joe Frigault and Deborah Roy of Saint John; her grandchildren: Adam (Stephanie) , Melissa, Tanya Mazerolle (Devon), Nathan, Katrina, Jolene, Jesse-Lynn Charlebois (Corey), Eric, Scott, Sarah and Alexandra; her great grandchildren: Alexander, Olivia, Jayce, Adison, Owen, Liam and Keenan; her sister-in-law, Alice McGarity of Cambridge Narrows; as well as several nieces and nephews. It is with heavy hearts that the Jenkins family announce the passing of Mrs. Flora A. Jenkins who passed away on September 14th, 2013 at the Sussex Health Center at the age of 77. She is predeceased by her husband, Gordon; her son, John Jenkins, who passed away in 2008; her sisters: Helen Ferris and Emma Thorne and by her brother, Wilmot McGarity. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17th from 1-3pm and 6-8pm . A service celebrating Flora's life will be held from The Church of the Good Shepherd on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 11:00 am. The interment will take place at the adjoining cemetery.
