Obituary of Thelma Marie Stilwell
Thelma was born in Salmon Creek on July 5, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Blanche (Smith) Kincade and the wife of the late Gordon Stilwell, who passed away in 2009.
Thelma learned how to cook and clean while growing up on their farm. In the summer she would pick strawberries and catch butterflies in the meadows.
She married Gordon in 1949 and together they had a wonderful life raising their family. She worked hard to take care of her family which was very important to her. Thelma was very proud of her home and everything was kept in its place. She loved to bake, garden, quilt, play cards, (especially 45s) and listen to Gordon play the fiddle.
Thelma also loved taking care of other people, always so generous in inviting people to "come get a bite to eat". She opened her home to family and friends when needed and was a shoulder many times to those needing to talk. She loved to dance and was the life of the party, whether it was at the community dances or the parties she threw in her own home.
Thelma was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday and was so proud of all they had accomplished which was evident by the many pictures on her refrigerator door. She was happiest with her family around her as these were the people in her life that were most important to her.
Thelma will live on in the hearts of her three sons: David and his wife Barb, Kevin and Mimi Wilkes, Bryant and Nancy Bernier, all of Saint John; seven grandchildren: Scott Stilwell and his wife Cheryl, Kimberly Kirkpatrick, and her husband Matthew, Ashley Camplin and her husband Simon, Kristin (David), Bradley, Corey and Christopher Stilwell; four great grandchildren: Kaissie Stilwell, Brittany Stilwell, Emma and Scarlett Kirkpatrick; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thelma Marie Stilwell of Belleisle Creek Manor formerly of Waterborough passed away at her residence on September 24, 2013 at the age of 82.
Thelma was the last surviving member of her immediate family; she is predeceased by her brothers: Sears and Lenny Kincade; six sisters: Lavinia LaPointe, Virginia Clements, Muriel Munroe, Stella Desruisseau, Greta Munroe and Eula Ford and Olive Green.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Dr. Sussex, (506) 433-1176.
