Obituary of James Kenneth Harry Adair

Jim was born in Picadilly on January 9, 1936 and was the son of the late James and Gertrude (Kilpatrick) Adair. Jim was raised in Picadilly. At the age of nice, Jim lost his Mom, so his older sisters brought him up. He went to school up to grade five and left at that point to go work on the farm with his dad. From an early age Jim worked hard; this continued for the rest of his life. Jim met and married Eloise when he was twenty and she was 19. They had a wonderful life and raised four children with the same morals and beliefs that had been instilled in them. When the children were growing up Jim was working in the woods in Markhamville and in 1970 he began working for Modern Construction. Yet, he still managed to find time to work the farm, hunt and fish. In the mid 70s, Jim went to work for the Irving Saw Mill until 1996 when he retired. Family was important to Jim, as well as hard work. His motto was, "Hard work never kills you". Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and took trips to Newfoundland each September for moose hunting. He loved to tell stories of his many adventures; there was plenty to tell. Family was everything to Jim and he especially enjoyed visiting with his brother and sisters. He also enjoyed visits from his special nieces in Toronto. Jim was very proud of his children and grandchildren and all they had accomplished in their lives. In later years Jim spent a lot of time gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Your life was richer because you knew him; he will be missed. Jim will be lovingly remembered by Eloise, his beloved wife of nearly 57 years; his children: Christine Frits and her husband Dave, Lesia Jonah and her husband Brian; Marty Adair and his wife Donna, Robbie Adair and his wife Sandra and Steven Bacon and his wife Bonnie who was like a son to him, all of Picadilly; three sisters: Genevieve Dalling of Dutch Valley, Ruby McLeod of Sussex Corner and Darlene McFarlane of Plumweseep; his granchildren: Amy Landry and her husband Troy of Waterford, Cole Frits and his wife Stacey of Sussex Corner, James and Joey Adair both of Picadilly, Mark King of Sussex, Shawn Smith (Lisa) of Alberta, Amanda Smith (Zach) of NS, Elisha Adair of Alberta, Colton Jonah, (Sherry Clouston) and Jessica Jonah, Jaclyn Bacon and Kendall Bacon all of Picadilly; four great grandchildren: Cooper, Karter, Connor and Piper; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. James Kenneth Harry Adair of Picadilly passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on September 26, 2013 at the age of 77. He is predeceased by his brothers: Eldon and Ron Adair and his sisters: Donna McKenzie and Dorothy Dalling. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Saturday September 28th from 6-8, and on Sunday, September 29th from 1-3 and 6-8pm. A service celebrating Jim's life will be held from Trinity Anglican Church on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 2:00pm with Rev. Alan Tapley officiating assisted by Pastor Tim MacDonald. A private family interment will take place at Trinity Cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship with the family in the Trinity Anglican Church Hall. If you are considering making a memorial donation the family has recommended the Extra Mural Program, or the Sussex Health Centre. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
