Obituary of Holly Reece
Holly Reece was born in Cumberland Point on May 15, 1924; he was the son of the late Weldon and Hazel (McLean) Reece.
Over the years Holly was employed with various companies beginning with Saint John City Transit as a Street Car operator and the City Transit Buses. He also worked with British American Oil, Sussex Ginger Ale, Humpty Dumpty and retired with Easter Bakeries.
He was a life member of the Knights of Phythias having received his 50 year pin. After moving to Youngs Cove he organized the Queens Lodge #63. He was a member of DOKK and United Commercial Travelers' Association Council # 755. He was a member of the First Grand Lake Baptist Church, active in his community and past president of the Youngs Cove Community Hall.
Holly loved gardening especially flowers and was known as "The Flower Man". He was known as "Grumpie Unkie Monkey" by three special nieces: Taylor, Bailey ad Summer Bizeau; whom he adored and they him.
He will live on in the hearts of his wife of 15 years, Bea; his sons: Phillip and his wife Bonnie of Quispamsis and Douglas and his wife Andrea of Norton; his sister-in-law, Joan Hyslop and her husband Emery of Sussex; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Holly Burpee Reece of Youngs Cove passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on November 27, 2013 at the age of 89. Besides his parents, Holly is predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy (McNamara) who passed away in 1998; his brother, Burt; his sister, Roxalana and by his niece, Faye.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Dr. Sussex, NB (506) 433-1176.
The family will receive relatives and friends at First Grand Lake Baptist Church on Friday, November 29th 7-9pm and on Saturday, November 30th from 1-4 and 6-9pm.
A service celebrating Holly's life will be held from First Grand Lake Baptist Church on Sunday, December 1st, 2013 at 2:00pm.
The interment will take place at Cumberland Point Cemetery.
