Obituary of Alice Branscombe

Alice was born in Salt Springs on July 28, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Catherine (Monahan) Cummings and the wife of the late Gilbert "Gib" Branscombe who passed away in 2004. Alice was a member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church and very active in her community; she was a Real Estate Agent, a Post Office Clerk, an employee of Barbour Foods, and Beaver Foods at Sussex Regional High School. Alice is survived by her daughter, Lorie Branscombe and Brian Benoit of Truro, her son, Shane Branscombe of Halifax, three brothers: Lawrence Cummings and his wife Joan of Salt Springs, Gordon Cummings and his wife Theresa of Millbrook and Hazen Cummings and his wife Debbie of Sussex Corner; seven sisters: Eileen Ryan and her husband James of Sussex, Dorie Whitters and her husband Ed of Sussex, Shirley Keays and her husband Dean of Hampton, Lois Cummings of Bloomfield, Marjorie Northrup of Sussex, Sally Rupert and her husband Bill of Hampton and Susan MacKay and her husband Jack of Markhamville; three grandchildren: Michael Toupin and his wife Aleia of Moncton, Zack and Madison, two great grandchildren: Denver and Damien;as well as by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mary Alice Branscombe of Truro formerly of Sussex passed away on December 29, 2013 at the age of 77. She was predeceased by her first husband, Bobby Burns and their three children: Eddie, Philly and Cathy, whom she lost tragically. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Wednesday January 1st from 1-3 ad 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Thursday January 2nd at 10:00am followed by a reception in the Church Hall. The interment will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
