Obituary of Joseph Caissie

Mitch Herbert Joseph Caissie, passed away on March 20, 2014, In Sussex Hospital after a courageous battle with ALS. Mitch was born on July 13, 1951 in Bathurst and was the son of Alexander and Sadie (Hachey) Caissie.. Mitch was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces. He served on the HMCS Bonaventure and the HMCS Protector. He then remustered to the Canadian Military Police and served with the Nato forces in Israel in 1977/78. Mitch was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years. He was a softball umpire and an avid poker player. He was always the jokester in the crowd and loved to play tricks. Mitch is survived by his wonderful wife Patsy who took such good care of him during his illness, his daughters Lisa and Maria, stepchildren Scott and Christina and grandsons Cody and Liam. his mother-in-law Solange Pettetier; his brothers: Reggie, Walter and Paul, all of Bathurst; his sisters: Eva, Sharon, Geraldine, all of Bathurst and Jean and Mary of Ontario; his grandsons: Cody Miller and Liam Aikenhead; his constant companion Babe as well as several nieces and nephews. Mitch is predeceased by his brothers: Blair and Frankie and his father-in-law Felix Pelletier. Arrangements are in the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506) 433-1176. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Celebration of Mitch's life will be held on Monday, March 24th, 2014 at 10:00am at the Wallace Community Chapel with a Legion tribute following the service.
