Obituary of Irene Dalling

Mary Edna Irene was born October 11, 1935 to John and Mabelle (Cunningham) Anderson, the youngest of eight children. Irene attended the one room schoolhouse in Walkers Settlement until 1946. That same year, she moved to Rockville to live with her brother, Edgar and sister in law Lillian and attended Rockville School for the remainder of her school years. In 1949, Irene's parents purchased the farm that Irene lived on to this day, currently Dallingvale Jersey's Ltd. It was necessary for her to stay home and help her mother during her sickness with severe asthma and it was during this time that Irene learned to cook, quilt and knit. In 1957, Irene married Edward Dalling at St. John's United Church in Sussex Corner and that same year, Edward and Irene purchased the farm from her parents. This is where they brought up their children Bill, Norma, Douglas, Eugene and Ashley. In 1970, they purchased 40 purebred Jersey cows and started the dairy farm which Irene, Edward and their family built up to the successful farm it is today. Jeremy was the first grandchild and nine more were to follow in the coming years. Irene also loved being with Edward and the children and she and Edward managed to do a bit of travelling. They made their way to Victoria, BC in 1979 to visit with Reverend Reynolds who had married them and also spent time with Irene's brother, Harry, in Vernon, BC. Throughout the 80's and 90's they travelled to places including England, Switzerland, Holland, Germany and France plus a trip through the United States to British Columbia with their friends, Ruby and Leo Beck. In 2007, she and Edward celebrated 50 years of marriage. Irene cherished time spent with family, friends, neighbours and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to put in time creating beautiful quilts and knitting socks and mittens and giving these special gifts to those fortunate enough to receive them. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her children: Bill and his wife Lisa of Vernon, BC, Norma of Waterford, Doug and his wife Donna of Havelock, Eugene and his wife Jane of Waterford; her grandchildren: Jeremy, Ryan (Colleen), Edwin (Kate), Jeb (Leanne), Krista (Eric), Nicole, Emily (Trevor), Colton, Cody (Becky) and Cassie; her great grandchildren: Tia, Jayden, Myanna and Autumn; two sisters: Laura Wilkins of Sussex Corner and June Tabor of Sussex and her sister-in-law Lillian Anderson; as well as several nieces and nephews. Irene is predeceased by her son Ashley and her brothers: Edgar, Curtis, Earl, Harry and Oscar Anderson, her bothers-in-Law: Harry Wilkins and Reginald Tabor and by her nephew, Ronnie Wilkins.
