Obituary of Doreen Robinson

Doreen was born April 2, 1922 in Wards Creek, she worked on the farm with her mother and uncles until they sold and moved to Sussex with Hazel and Uncle Bev. Doreen graduated from Sussex High School later taking a bookkeeping course but decided to get married to Ralph in December 1963, moving to Mount Middleton and became a farm wife; preparing many meals, not only for Ralph and John but neighbours and family, She was a wonderful cook and would always send food if anyone was sick or there was a death in the neighbourhood. You never came home hungry from her place. Joan remembers her delicious chocolate cake and Raymond McLean said she could make the best cup of tea he ever tasted. After Ralph passed she stayed at the farm with John and when he passed away she moved church avenue and stayed there until November 2010 when she went to the hospital and really didn't want to live alone anymore. She went to live at the Belleisle Creek Manor where she passed away on May 26, 2011 at the age of 89. Doreen was a Christian lady, attending Church, Presbyterian until it closed then driving to Hampton as long as she could drive. She did not believe in gossip and would tell you so if she thought you were saying it. Some memories from other people are: Sheila remembers the beautiful geraniums in her flower garden, also Doreen planting tulips in pots in the house and them blooming mid-winter. Dawn remembers her taking the kids in and using them as family not just neighbours and sending them home through the field, not letting them go on the road. Doreen said Clarence was like a brother more than a cousin. Joyce and Joan reminiscing about old times and all the good times all the other first cousins had at their place. Joyce and Joan's families loved to visit at the farm in Wards Creek and thinking they were helping gathering eggs, seeing chickens hatching, feeding lambs, looking at her bunting hens and tagging along behind her. Doreen was a very private woman and lived a good long life, not scared to move on to a better place. Mrs. Doreen Robinson, formerly of Church Avenue, Sussex, passed away May 26, 2011 at the Belleisle Creek Special Care Home at the age of 89. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). No visitation will be held as per Doreen's wishes. A funeral service will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on May 28, 2011 at 11:00am. Interment will be in Kirk Hill Cemetery, Sussex, N.B.
