Obituary of Beverly Whitfield Wood
Beverly Whitfield Wood was born in Hunters Home on July 15, 1938 and was the son of John and Isabelle (Perry) Wood.
Bev married Eva Ryder in September of 1960 and they went on to raise their family of four sons and two daughters. Bev worked very hard to take care of his family. He was a farmer which meant his job was seven days a week from sun up to sun down. He maintained the Coles Island Cemetery which was a big job in itself. Even after he had passed the care of the cemetery over to Ben, he still remained involved. Bev was very laid back and had a very quick wit. If there was anything he could do to help anyone out, he was more than willing to do his part.
Bev was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He made many wonderful friendships throughout his life. If you were fortunate to have him touch your life, you were made a better person.
Bev will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 53 years, Eva (Ryder); his daughters: Joan St. Pierre of Coles Island and Virginia Aubin and her husband Basile of Hunters Home; his sons: Martin Wood of Cumberland Bay, Ralph Wood of Fredericton, Larry Wood and his wife Lynn of Coles Island and Benjamin Stevens and his wife Shannon of Youngs Cove; his brothers, Charlie Wood and his wife Marjorie of Hunters Home and Jerry Wood and his wife Judy of Drury's Cove; his sisters Hilda Thorne and her husband Ron of Edmonton and Elizabeth Steen of Apohaqui; his grandchildren: Cassandra, Tiffany, Tina, Tonya, Jeffery, Tyler, Mitchell, Michael, Mark, Randy, Ethan and Alexys; his great grandchildren: Myah, Ava, Emma, Axel, Lenox, Matthew, Austin and Hudson; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Wood of Mahone Bay as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bev was predeceased by his grandson, Spencer Wood; his brother, Earl; his sisters: Dorothy Beach-Daigle, Vera Jeffrey and Bernice Sleep (Leon) as well as his brother-in-law Johnnie Steen.
Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506) 433-1176 where visitation will be held on Friday, July 11th from 1-3 and 6-8pm.
A celebration of Bev's life will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00am at the Wallace Community Chapel.
A private family interment will take place at the Coles Island Cemetery immediately following the service.
If you are considering making a donation in memory of Bev, the family has recommended the Coles Island Cemetery.
