Obituary of George Hargrove
George was born in West Saint John on October 30, 1915. He was the son of the late George L. Hargrove and Minnie E. (Kingston) Hargrove and was the husband of the late Ann-Marie (McAfee) Hargrove who passed away in 2012.
George was a graduate from Saint John High School in 1933. He worked for only two companies throughout his life time, 15 years in production management with Canada Veneers of Saint John and 33 years with Domtar Inc of Montreal, eighteen of which were served as Plant Manager at Different Plants across Canada and the final 15 years as production manager for Roofing and Felt at Domtar Inc. Head office in Montreal.
George was a member of the St. Paul's United Church in Sussex, a distinguished Past President of the Golden "K" and a former member of the Sussex Golf and Curling Club.
George will be fondly remembered by his children: his children: Colleen Lyon of Lennoxville,Quebec, George Hargrove and his wife Lise of Alymer, Quebec; Raymond Hargrove and his wife Ramona of Surrey, BC; Peter Hargrove and his wife Debbie of Oakville, Ontario; his step children: Elizbeth A. O'Blenis and her husband James of Hamilton, ON, George Wood and his wife Janet of Browns Flat; ten granddaughters: Diane Schott, Christine Ready, Joane Burns, Britteny Hargrove, Leigh Hargrove, Carey Hargrove, Catherine Lyon, Angela Lyon, Karine Hargrove, four grandsons: Dr. Andrew Lyon, Colin Hargrove, Chris Lyon, Thom Lyon; four step-grandchildren: Robin, Stephen Wood, Dan Wood and Kathy Chase; as well as by 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. George Samuel Hargrove of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on July 30, 2014 at the age of 98. He is predeceased by his brother, Murray L. Hargrove, his infant brother, Royden Hargrove, his sister, Gladys A. Latta and by his step-son, George Wood
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Friday 1-3 and 6-8pm.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
