Obituary of Vera Tower

Vera was born in Coles Island on June 14, 1922; she was the daughter of the late Harry and Agnes (Phillips) Moss and was the wife of the late Perley Tower who passed away in 2006. Vera married Perley November 1, 1941 at the United Church in Youngs Cove. After they were married they worked at several sawmill and lumber camps all over southern NB. Vera doing the cooking and Perley working in the woods.When Perley started his own trucking company Vera stayed home looking after the children and doing the bookwork, etc for his business. In later years Vera worked cooking at the Country Kitchen, McCreadys and Texaco. After retiring in 1987 she was kept busy babysitting her grandchildren. Vera loved a good joke, playing cards, cooking and loved her family. Vera lived her whole life in the Youngs Cove area and moving back to Coles Island in 2007. She will live on in the hearts of her five children: Alvin and his wife Margaret of Young's Cove, Faye Thorne of Havelock, Glendon and his wife Pam of Carsonville, Diane Tower of Mill Cove and Donna Paterson and her husband Michael of Coles Island; her nine grandchildren: Michael Tower and Dorothy Eldridge of Saint John, Gregory Tower and Lisa McGillan of Youngs Cove, Shelly LeBlanc and her husband Terry of Moncton, Anne Corbett and her husband Kevin of NS, Jennifer Duncan and her husband Terry of Havelock, Roy Thorne and his wife Megan of Havelock, Jacklyn Sinclair and her husband Mitchell of Apohaqui, Robert Paterson and his wife Heather of Berwick and Stephanie Paterson of St. Stephen; and seven great grandchildren: Leigha, Lucas, Raelyn, Zachary, Hannah, Emma, and Avery; as well as several nieces, nephews cousins and friends. Mrs. Vera Pauline Tower of Coles Island passed away with her family by her side at the Sussex Health Centre on August 9, 2014, at the age of 92. Vera was the last surviving member of her immediate family; she is predeceased by her brothers Earl, Harold and Bill and by her sisters: Emma Cox, Lulu Jackson and Marjorie Howes. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8. A Service Celebrating Vera's Life will be held from Youngs Cove United Church on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11:00 am. There will be an opportunity to meet the family at the Coles Island Lions Den immediately following a private family interment at Youngs Cove Cemetery.
