Obituary of Carl Rouse
Carl was born February 19, 1934 in Knightville, NB and was the son of the late William and Grace (Branscombe) Rouse.
Carl joined the Canadian Militia in his late teens. He then moved to California in December 1954 with his parents. He worked at a dental lab in Los Angeles until changing careers and going on to Standard Oil. Carl was drafted to the US Army in 1959 and returned to his job after serving.
In July 1966, Carl married Arlene and later that year opened his own service station. During his career he built his clientele from everyday people to Hollywood stars. He worked on the studio cars for the Blue Knight and the Dukes of Hazard. In 1974 he became the manager of Bear Automotive and he worked very hard to take care of his family.
He and Arlene bought their first house in North Hollywood, California went on to have their four daughters: Debbie, Carolyn, Cindy and Melissa. He loved spending time with them and taking care of his girls. He also enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to fish and play crokinole.
Carl was very active and had a great interest for learning new things. He got his pilot license in 1967 but flying soon took a back seat to racing cars. He actively raced cars up until the time he moved his family to Canada in 1984. Once back in Canada, he opened Carl Rouse Automotive and retired from there in 1999. This allowed him more time for hunting, fishing and building model cars which he enjoyed doing.
Carl will be lovingly remembered by his wife Arlene; his daughters: Debbie Cookson (Michael) of Kars, Carolyn Fullarton (Chris) of Windham, Maine, Cindy McFarlane (Tony) of Waterford and Melissa Rouse (Scott) of Dieppe; his sister Edith Ludwick of Oregon; his grandchildren: Jessica, Matthew, Meaghan, Brianne and Samantha as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carl Frank Rouse passed away on February 14, 2015 at the Sussex Health Center surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his brother Floyd and his sister Joyce.
Carl was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle and the legacy he leaves behind is one of kindness, caring and a work ethic matched by few. He will be missed.
