Obituary of Marie MacKnight
Marie was born March 30, 1938, in Charm, to the late David and Saloma (Christner) Erb, and grew up in Berlin.
She graduated from Riverside Hospital School of Nursing in Newport News, VA., attended Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY and graduated from the University of Iowa. She was a nurse in Orrville, Syracuse, Iowa City, Colorado and Wooster.
After her marriage and move to Canada, Marie taught for two years at the School of Nursing in Bathurst, NB. She later became a successful Mary Kay consultant for over 30 years. She volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society and was a life member of WMS.
In November 2002, Marie was awarded the Queen Jubilee Medal.
Marie will continue to live on in the hearts of her loving husband of 38-plus years, Iain MacKnight; a sister, Violet Erb Northern of Charlotte, NC; a brother Clyde (Joann) Erb of Didron; nieces and nephews, Mark Erb of Las Vegas, Marcia (George) Papacostas of Canton, Penny (Dale) Kostelnik of Louisville, Douglas Erb of Las Vegas, Erik (Patty) Erb of Marshallville, and Brent Erb of Kidron; great-nieces and nephews, Amy (David) Heck of Louisville, Sarah (Alex) Austin of Paris, NC, Alyssa Erb and Aidan Erb of Marshallville; great-great nieces, Olivia James of Copley and Karli Heck of Canton; and numerous much loved nieces and nephews in Canada and Australia.
Mrs. Marie (Erb) MacKnight, formerly of Wooster, went to be with her Lord early Sunday morning February 15, 2015, while in the Sussex Health Centre in Sussex, NB. She was predeceased in death by an infant sister, Mildred Erb; a brother, Omar Erb; and a brother-in-law Earl Northers as well as numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law in Canada.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176).
Marie and Iain MacKnight, formerly of Sussex Corner, passed away Feb. 6, 2015 and May 9, 2016 , respectively. Marie and Iain will be reunited in their final resting place in Campbellton Rural Cemetery on May 20th at 2pm. A reception will follow at the First Baptist Church 18 Andrews Street, Campbellton.
