It is with great sadness we announce the death of Patrick Earl Hayes of St. Martin's which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 5, 2011. Pat was born in Jeffries Corner on November 27, 1931; he was the son of the late Urban and Ella (Hall) Hayes. Pat was a mechanic and Industrial Mechanic. He was employed with Sheer Silk Hosiery in Sussex for many years and then he and his family moved to Richmond, Quebec for seven years. When returning home, the family took residence in St. Martin's. Pat continues his mechanic work until his retirement with the Department of Transportation (Bus Garage). Pat was a dedicated parishioner of St. William's Roman Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus, Council #11201. Pat enjoyed tinkering at various projects, gardening, teasing and was always ready to help anyone who stopped in or phoned needing repairs or advice on their vehicles. Pat will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 57 years, Lorena (Henderson) and his children: Warren and his wife Nancy of St. Martin's, Patrick and his wife Ivy of Shannonville, Ontario, Murray and his wife Sandra of Carsonville, Susan Taylor and her husband Peter of Richmond, Quebec, Sharon of Calgary, Alberta, Randy and his wife Leah of Calgary, Alberta and Shelly Clayton and her husband Ron of St. Martin's; 19 grandchildren: Michael and RayeAnn, Samantha and Jeff, Jessica and Brian, Allison and Rob, Marie-Line, Nick and Michelle, Katie, Ryan and Marley, Gillian, Joel and Tamryn, Zacharie, Krystal and Paul, Megan and Paul, Hannah, Dallas, Shelby, Alex, Matthew and Robin and Derek; his great granddaughter, Kloee; 5 sister: Elizabeth Monahan and her husband Raymond, Karine Grant and her husband Earl, Lois Cassidy and her husband Elton; Bernice and her husband Geoff, Marie Rideout and her husband Wayne; 3 brothers: Fred and his wife Marg, Walter and his wife Evelyn and Carl and his wife Debbie; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Pat was predeceased by his son Jim; his brothers: Jack and Don and his sister Marjorie and his sister in law Norma. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). Visitation will be held from St. William's Roman Catholic Church (2354 Rte 111, St Martins, NB) on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. William's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 12:00pm. The interment will take place at St. William's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. There will be a time of fellowship with the family in the church basement following the committal service. Due to Allergies, the family would appreciate no flowers. If desired, donations made to the St. William's Roman Catholic Church Building Fund, St. William's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
