Obituary of Walter Harry Riedle

Walter Harry Riedle died unexpectedly on July 12 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Sussex on June 20, 1946 he was predeceased by his parents Harry and Rena Riedle as well as his sister Marion and brother Emerson. Walt was married to Connie (Proctor), the love of his life, for 42 years and was like a big brother to her family. Together, they raised two boys Derek (Terri) of Saint John and Peter (Angela) of Rathdrum Ireland. Walt treasured his grandchildren Derek's boys Jack and Peter and Peter's daughter Isabel. He was thrilled with Peter's news of twin grandsons expected this fall. He spent the bulk of his career with Christie Brown which took him to various cities around the country. Since retiring back to Sussex in 2001 he had been active with the Lions Club, Sussex Golf Club and the Royal District Planning Commission. Walt was a wicked pool shot and loved merging his two favourite hobbies, beer and golf - but he'd often just skip the golf. He loved a good joke, was quick to smile and really cared about everyone around him. He was a friend to everyone no matter how long he knew you. His spirit lives on in the memories and many stories of his treasured friends. He will be missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Saturday, July 14th from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM. A service celebrating Walter's life will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 11:00am from the Wallace Community Chapel. If you are considering making a memorial donation, the family has recommended the Sussex Health Centre.
