Obituary of MaryAnn Oderkirk
Mary Ann was born in Toronto on December 10, 1947, she was the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Felice) Moroney.
Mary Ann was a devoted wife and best friend to Dale. A loving mother to Derek Oderkirk/Patricia, and Jodi Cleary/Dave. Much loved nanny to Liam, Dawson, and Caitlin. Big sister to Pat Moroney/Susan, Greg Moroney/Colleen, Ken Moroney/Linda and Joe Moroney/Barb. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and friends.
Mary Ann was a retired member of the Sussex School District, where she started as a special needs volunteer, then to teaching assistant and finally as secretary at both the middle and high schools. She also volunteered for many years as; the Secretary to St. John Ambulance Sussex, as a Girl Guide Leader and secretary for Sussex Minor Hockey.
Throughout her life she added joy to those around her, comforted those in pain and extended unconditional love to her family and friends. Her children gave her feelings of great pride and the grandchildren were continually smothered with love and affection. To her husband she shared a special bond of love and caring and was happiest when together.
On behalf of Mary Ann, her family wishes to thank the many within the New Brunswick Health Care System who provided exceptional expertise and caring. Those in particular include Dr. Robert Stevenson her long time family doctor in Sussex, Dr. Butler her latest family physician, Dr. Burnell and her oncology and IV staff at the Saint John Regional, the extra mural physicians, nurses and occupational therapy specialists, the IV staff at Sussex Health Center and finally the palliative care nurses and staff at the Sussex Health center. The latter group, along with her brother Joe made her final days as joyful and caring as anyone could.
Although Mary Ann's joy and passion for life touched many, her wish for a private family service will be honored.
