Obituary of Barbara Wilma Long

Barbara was born in Ripples on March 23, 1926; she was the daughter of the late Jack Tapley and Violet (McLean) Tapley and the wife of the late Harold E. Long. Barbara moved to Hamilton with her husband and family in 1949.She attended the United Pentecostal Church there and was involved in Sunday school work. She was a Sunday School Bus Captain for 5 years and also a Sunday School Superintendent. After her husbands passing she moved to Sussex, NB, where she attended Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church on Main Street in Sussex. Barbara lived in Fredericton with her granddaughter Annette up to her passing to her home in heaven. Barbara is survived by her son, David and his wife Betty of Hamilton, Ontario; 2 daughters-in-law, Sheila of Perth Andover and Judy of Fredericton; 3 step-sisters, Kathleen of Kingston, Ontario, Irma Sullivan of Newcastle and Jean Harding and her husband Herman of Tabusintac; grandchildren, Annette Porter and her husband Eric, Rick and his wife Laura, Shane, Jonathon and his wife Krystal, Michelle, Monica, Steven and his wife Monica, Peter and his wife Julie, Timothy and his wife Angela; great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Allissa, Jackson, Talia, Samantha, Andrea, Zachery, Kylie, Tyler, Maxwell, Spence, Elaina, Madison, Ethan and Presley as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barbara Wilma Long of Fredericton and formerly of Sussex, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on May 3, 2015 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her sons, Paul who passed away September 26, 1994 and Jack who passed away February 16, 2001; her sister Verna DiCarlo-Bastarache; her step-father, Percy Robertson; her step-brothers: Chester and Donald Robertson and a step-sister, Ruth. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). Visitation will be held on May 6th, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Capital Community Church, 71 Downing Street, Fredericton, NB. A service celebrating Barbara's life will be held from the Capital Community Church on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery following the service.
