Obituary of Fyrn Jeana Gard

Twins Gyrn and Fyrn were born in Knightville to Mary Victoria (Chambers) of Anagance Ridge and John "Allen" McQuinn of Knightville on December 28, 1928, with Gyrn passing away two weeks later. Fyrn started school in Knightville and later moved to Anagance Ridge where she continued her education, joined the garment sewing club and helped out around the farm, doing choirs from baking bread to cleaning stables. When she began high school in Sussex, she and her sister Faye stayed with their aunt Mary Brown on St, George Street. She graduated from Sussex High School in 1946 for the next year she continued her education taking a commercial course and the following year she boarded with her aunt Mary in Moncton. She was employed as a clerk in the accounts department of Marvins. She shared a room with Eleanora Keiver who became her lifelong friend. Later she moved in with her parents who had bought an old funeral home and converted it into a boarding house. On July 26, 1952 she married W. Tremaine Gard. The couple moved back to Sussex and Fryn became a member of St. Pauls United Church and a CGIT leader. In 1954, their family began with Shelly, Steven and lastly Sherie in 1959. Fryn enjoyed vacations at Waldows in Cambridge Narrows and the annual camping trips to Waterborough. The Gards loved to travel, along with Kaye and Burpee, Pauline and Gordon, Ken and Pauline, Margaret and George they went to the NewYork State Fair in 1965 where they took in all the sites. In 1978, Fyrn and Tremaine took Sherie, Shelly, Ron, to British Columbia where they went to Bouchard Gardens Aquarium, Victoria Island and put their feet in the Pacific Ocean. They also visited Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Red Deer Alberta. In, 2002, Tremain and Fyrn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and a few years later in 2008 Tremain passed away and Fyrn moved into Primrose Cottage. Fyrn will live on in the hearts of her children: Shelly McClary (Richard) of Rothesay, Steve Gard (Tammy Vautour) of White's Cove and Sherie Gard of Sussex; her sisters: Betty McKnight (Bud) of Apohaqui, Lois Hall (Ted) of New Maryland and Kaye Finniss of Minto; five grandchildren; Corey and Katrina McClary, Kody and Aaron Gard and Krystal Cooper; as well as by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fyrn Jeana Gard of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the age of 86. She is predeceased by her beloved husband W. Tremaine Gard who passed away in 2008, her twin brother, Gyrn; her stillborn brother and by her sister Faye McQuinn.. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Monday from 3-8pm. A service celebrating Fyrn's life will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 11:00 am. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
