I was saddened to hear of Kate's death. I knew her as a writer and a friend, someone who could be counted on to see things clearly, and to understand completely. I had the pleasure of reading her first book before she sent it to Harlequin, and it was a beautiful story. Dear Rei and family,
There are no words to express how deeply sorry I am to hear about Kate. I'm still in shock as I had no idea she'd been sick.
I met Kate through our NB writers' loop (We Just Love to Write) and only met her once or twice face to face. But we had such good chuckles communicating via email, talking about our work in progress.
I'm sorry I will not be able to attend the wake/funeral. I live in Moncton, and have to work this weekend.

Our thoughts are with you Rei, and your sons and family on this very sad occasion.
We only knew Kate for two years, meeting on a cold day motoring down the ICW. We became friends with both of you and enjoyed spending time together on beautiful beaches in the Bahamas (which Kate loved to walk). We were always looking forward to meeting again on other beaches, which we did often.
Memories of these times will be with us always.
Kate will be greatly missed.
