Obituary of Russell Marks

Russell Marks was born in Portage Vale on December 19, 1913; he was the son of the late Alvin A. and Nettie (Graves) Marks. He served in the Canadian Army as Lieutenant for over six years during WWII. He was a former member of the Golden "K" Club and the Portage Vale United Baptist Church. He was a lumberman, an auto Mechanic and Shop Teacher. If it was broken he could fix it. Russell will live on in the hearts of Treva (Smith) Marks his beloved wife of over 72 years, two daughters: Judy Dunnett and husband Edgar of Bathurst, Diane Fletcher and her husband David of Lower Sackville, NS; his son: Clifford Marks and wife Barbara of Fredericton; his brother, Myles of Hungary; his sister-in-law, Edith Marks of Sussex, eight grandchildren: 12 great grand children: and 7 step-grandchildren; as well as several nieces nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers: Allison and Stanley, two sisters: Pearl Hodgin and Elma Hall; and by his great grandson Benjamin Logan. Mr. Russell George Marks of Veterans Health Unit Fredericton and formerly of Sussex Corner and Portage Vale passed away at his residence on April 2, 2011 at the age of 97. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday 6-8pm. Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Tuesday evening at 5:45pm A Celebration of Russell's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Rev. John Dunnett officiating. There will be a time of fellowship with the family immediately following the service. The interment will take place at Pioneer Cemetery.
