Dear Gord, Heather & Becky,
It’s tough to have to write these words but since I can’t be there in person to give you all a hug, this will have to do. I am so incredibly sad and sorry about the loss of your amazing dad. I know the grief and emptiness you must be feeling is something that no one can even begin to understand.
Uncle Gordy had such a soft and kind heart. I remember him as supportive, loving and patient. He always treated others equally, no matter what. He was an uncle that anyone would be happy and lucky to have. It was obvious that he was so proud of his kids – he loved you all very much. I know his legacy will live on in you three.
Please know that I wish I could be there to show my support and love. I’m sad as I think back over the many years that have passed and we’ve never been in touch. While we never got the chance to grow up together, we’ve had opportunities to stay in touch and keep that family connection. While distance can make it challenging, I hope that we can reconnect and start fresh. A family bond is so important and something we shouldn’t take for granted. It defines us.
What I remember most about Uncle Gordy was the twinkle in his eyes. I know he’s looking down at you now with that same twinkle and proud smile.
Love you guys, Cousin Melissa xoxoxo

Dorothy and the family
Diane, Matthieu, Jean-Simon, Meggy and I are all so saddened by the sudden loss of Gordy. When my Dad married Dorothy, Gordy was one of the first people to welcome me when I met the family. His contagious smile and huge heart was always a breath of fresh air; he gave all to his family, especially his mom. I will always think of him as a big brother; when I said goodbye to him last May after a visit, he called me little brother, smiled and gave me a huge hug. I will always remember him that way.
All our love, thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I wish I had had the chance to say thank you to Gordie for all the years of friendship and for all the laughter. He was the epitome of a "family man". All of his thoughts were for his kids, his grandkids, Sylvia and his mom. He was always there to help a friend as well. When you were part of Gordie's clan, you never had to wonder where to to look for help...he was always there. My love to you all.

Gordie indeed had a very special gift of expressing and extending his kindness and compassion.
There were times when years went by, that Gordie and I would not see one another. When we did meet however, Gordie's greeting always came with that famous, vibrant smile and warm hugs.
The last time I saw Gordie, was this past summer. As I was passing by, I noticed him waiting in his vehicle in front of the Super Store. In "Gordie fashion", he jumped out of his car, and we enjoyed one more, of those memorable little visits.
He somehow seemed to have that unique way of making you feel like you were just the very person he needed to see, at that particular time.
I do have special memories also. of Gordie visiting our farm in Avonmore. Visiting cousins were always a grand event. His visits were no exception.
My Beloved Aunt Dorothy , Lois And Diane. I truly share in your great grief. I am also praying, in faith believing, that you will experience and enjoy, "The peace that passes all understanding".
To Sylvia and your son and daughters, whom I have not had the privilege to meet, I extend to you our deepest sympathies at this time.

Aunt Dorothy, Lois and Diane and families and Gordie's family,
My heart is aching for you today. We were so sad to hear of Gordies passing. What a shock and what a loss. I can't even begin to imagine how you all must feel, but please know that we are keeping you all in our hearts and our prayers. May the peace and strength of God be yours today and in the lonely days to follow.
I have so many memories of Gordie as we were growing up. He always had a spot in my heart. He was always smiling and so kind to everyone. He worked so hard. Always willing to help anyone he could. And in the later years he has been so faithful to be there for Aunt Dorothy. He will be missed by so many and he leaves an empty spot in our hearts.
May God Bless you all. Love you.

It was with a heavy heart that we received the sad news of cousin Goldie's death. I would like to share a memory of the kind of man my cousin was. We moved to St John NB following our marriage in 1975. Gordie was one of the first people to visit. When Gordie saw the sparsely furnished apartment he went home & got some of his own furniture & with a couple of friends, delivered a chesterfield & a bed. I know that he didn't have very much at the time. That was the Gordie I have always known...generous and caring. I will always have the memories of his kind smile and the twinkle in his eyes. The love that he had for his mother, sisters, children & grandchildren was shown through the excitement in the stories & his many visits. There are so many fond memories of our families together in Toronto. Then the many trips for visits with cousins, aunts & uncles once the Harvey family moved to New Brunswick. I loved my cousin Gordie and carry an empty place in my heart today. Gordie will be missed by all who knew & loved him. My prayers are for his mother Aunt Dorothy, Diane, Lois & all of the family he loved so much. We have a hope that one day we will meet again. So for now we will carry memories close to our heart & pray that our loving Lord will bring comfort, peace & strength for all Gordies loved ones, Sylvia, his precious children & grandchildren.
