Obituary of Jessie Jonah

Jessie was born in Brookville, NB on August 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Emily (Kirkpatrick) McKay and the wife of the late Ronald Jonah who passed away in 1996. Jessie was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Sussex Golfing and Curling Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge with the girls. Jessie worked with Birks in the early 1940, she was a Physical Director for the YMCA from 1943-1945 and she was an office administrator for Carrier Ltd. in Toronto. Jessie is survived by her sister, Mary Kirkpatrick of Sussex; as well as her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jessie Jonah of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on January 3, 2016 at the age of 95. Jessie lived a happy and long life. She is predeceased by her brothers: William, Andrew, Thomas McKay, and Charles McKay, her sisters: Christina O'Donnell-LeBlanc and Sarah Merriwether, and by her brothers-in-law Robert Beck and Dyson Kirkpatrick. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A service celebrating Mrs. Jonah’s life will be held from Trinity Anglican Church on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm. followed by a time of fellowship with the family.
