Obituary of Douglas Sanford Almon

Doug Almon was born in Sussex on February 8, 1942, he was the son of the late Sanford H. Almon of Knightville and Bertha M. (Anderson) Mt. Pisgah. Doug was an outdoorsman and lumberman he sorted lumber for Bayshore Mill and later was a night watchman for Shur-Gain Ltd. Doug will live on in the hearts of his children: Dorothy Carhart (David Edling) of Searsville, Jerry Almon and his wife Sue of Penobsquis, David (Annette Taylor) of Havelock, and Doug Almon (Kim Lackie) of Whites Mountain; his sister: Louise Howe of Smith Creek, his brothers: Ralph Almon (Juanita Strong) of Knightville and Clifford Almon (Nancy Forgraves) of Sussex Corner, his sister-in-law Joanne Almon of Saint John, his brother-in-law Richard Wood of Sussex; his grandchildren: Mark and Matt Cole, Brandon and Makayla Edling, Carrie (Craig) and Tara Almon, Tia Taylor, Shelby Harper, Marshall Lavoie, Lucas and Jacob Almon; the mother of his children, Jean Foley and her husband Greg of Sussex, a special neighbour Billy Norden of Penobsquis, as well as by several nieces and nephews; Mr. Douglas Sanford Almon of Penobsquis, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on January 13, 2016 at the age of 73. He is predeceased by brothers: Tom, Bud and Bryant, his sister Jane Wood, his sons-in-law: Jerry Cole and David Carhart, and by his brother-in-law Ronald Howe and by his sister-in-law Linda Almon. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-8pm. A service celebrating Mr. Almon’s life will follow in the Wallace Community at 8pm.
