Obituary of Albert George Lewis

Albert Lewis was born in Wards Creek on April 04, 1937, he was the son of the late John Stanley Lewis of Havelock and Cora Myrtle (Adair) of Jefferies Corner. As a child Albert loved to be outdoors with his father, hunting and fishing. He attended Upper Wards Creek school until he was in Grade 9 when he left to go to work. Was a strong defender and protector of his younger siblings and cousins. He even volunteered to hold down his sister so the doctor could give her a needle. His sisters recall him breaking his leg wrestling with the other kids at school. He met Etta in Penobsquis when she was visiting with her Grandmother they were wed October 22, 1960 and between 1961 and 1979 they had 10 children. They struggled when they lost their daughter Pamela when she was only 4 months old. Albert and Etta lived in Wards Creek their entire married life. During the summer months, Albert cut wood all over the country side and they would stay near where ever he was cutting. Eventually Albert began running the bulldozer, which he continued for may years for Sidney Davidson, Clayton MacDonald, and Ralph Colpitts, among others. He spent over 25 years with Ground Search and Rescue, 20+ years with Fish and Wildlife. Albert could always be seen with a yard and house full of his children and grandchildren, and anyone else that drove in the drive way. His house embraced all who entered the door and if they weren't family when they arrived, they felt like it when they left.
