Bruce and I were saddened to learn that Rev. Ricker passed away on Sunday. What a lovely man he was. Bruce has spent many an hour at TIMS sitting, drinking coffee and chatting about this & that. He talked with everyone and always expressed genuine interest in each one he met. He spoke often of his late wife, who he missed dearly. And then his dog, for which he planned his 'outings'.
The TIMS crowd will miss his familiar self !As well as his family, church folks and friends !

To know Pastor Hazen Ricker was to love him! That sentiment was proven true during his ministry at Corbett Church (1985-96) where his love for God and people endeared him to all. The following portion of a poem entitled The Preacher Man, written in 2007 by Corbett Church member Cheryl Kimball Thomas, speaks to the life and character of Pastor Ricker.
"You must strive to feed the hungry, sit with sinners every day,
Making known the greatest story ever told.

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Ricker. Our last visit with him was in the Tim Horton's in Sussex..Mr Ricker recognized us as being from down shore(Woods Harbour)He was anxious to know about many people he remembered there, from his ministry in Port Maitland and Digby. Of course there ensued lively discussions about how the church was doing, what types of fishing were going on and shared memories of people we both knew and remembered. My sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Ricker. I remember Mr. Ricker coming into the Kings County Record office and putting his apartment ads in the paper. I was so broken hearted when I heard the news this morning. I've been speechless for most of the day. It has been my honour to have known Hazen, his lovely wife, and their children for more than 40 years. He was my Pastor and friend through most of them. An amazing man who walked humbly with God and before men. Grace & I are going to miss him greatly. Our deepest sympathies to Hazen's brother & sister, Darlene & Bob, Graydon & Norma, Greg & Shelly, and all their children & Grand children.

It's hard to describe the range of emotions I am experiencing as I read this obituary. At the age of twelve, when I gave my life to Christ, this wonderful pastor and family were the Shephrds in my church. He led by example. He saw to it that there was "no turning back!" I am rich today as I look back over my Godly heritage thanks to the Rickers' faithful ministry! It is sad for the family left to grieve his absence, and exciting to know that we will meet again when we all get to heaven!

You were blessed to have a lovely Mom and Dad as well as all your grandparents. What a reunion in Heaven. I was so blessed to have known your mom and dad and been a member of Sussex Wesleyan back in the 70's. I also enjoyed many a cone at Beulah too and always with smiles and laughter. We are so saddened, yet so joyful that Hazen has been promoted to glory. He was such an encouragement and a trust friend who we will forever cherish. I will remember the times that he has been that second "dad" who offered words of wisdom. guidance and prayer. I will miss his stories, we will miss his hugs, he will forever be in our memories, he will forever be in our hearts. Saddened to hear of Pastor Ricker's passing and reflecting on his years at Corbett Church in Fredericton (1985-96) while we were raising our young family. He had a genuine love for people and enjoyed friendly, easy conversation with everyone he met on life's journey. We mention often one of his many sayings ... "Ten two-letter words worth remembering, 'If it is to be, it is up to me!' You can mark it down." He was so right not only about that, but many other things he shared from his storehouse of wisdom and insight. Thank you Pastor Ricker for your Godly example. "Enter thou into the joy of thy lord." Greg, Graydon, Darlene and families,
We were so shocked and saddened this morning to hear of your Dad's passing. A strong man of God, devoted father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all his friends he has made. He will certainly be missed at McDonald's with his wonderful advice and his humorous stories.
Home at last with his Saviour and his beloved Norma Lee. So happy to know we will get to meet them again someday soon. To the Ricker Family:
So sorry for the passing of Mr. Ricker. He was a wonderful man and a great preacher. We loved Hazen and Norma Lee so much when they pastored in Barkers Point Corbett Wesleyan. They were just a wonderful couple. I know Mr. Ricker will be greatly missed but he has been a faithful servant of God's and is now enjoying his new home in heaven with his beloved Norma Lee.
