Obituary of Sylvia Anne Hamm
Ms Sylvia Anne Hamm was born in Saint John NB, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Greta (Mallory) Hamm.
Sylvia grew up in Rothesay, working in her dad's grocery store and spending her summers in Black River. She graduated from Rothesay Regional High School in 1953 and worked for the city of Saint John and the Red Cross. She was an avid genealogist; just tell her a last name and she knew the family! She loved digging in her garden and having plant sales, feeding and talking to her birds and her best travelling companion was her beloved dog. She was adventurous: always up for a road trip, picnics or ATV rides but she also loved the simple life: doing crosswords, watching movies and sharing a few laughs. Most of all, Sylvia loved her family (every visit meant so much to her) and she loved the Lord (singing hymns and studying His Word).
She will live on in the hearts of her daughters: Allyson Mitton and her husband Russell of Dutch Valley; Heather Stevens and her husband Andrew of Sussex Corner; her son, Andy Thompson and his wife Jackie of Moncton; her sisters: Arlene Butland and her husband David of Cody's and Patricia Mills of Sussex; her brother, Clarence "Bud" Hamm of Saint John; her grandchildren: Sarah Madden and her husband Mike of Newtown, Jessi McGibbon and her husband Joel of Sussex Corner, Aaron Thompson of Moncton, Samantha Thompson of Moncton and Caleb Stevens of Sussex Corner; her great grandchildren: Hailey and Jordan Madden, Nolan and Jonah McGibbon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Sylvia passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 19, 2016 at the age of 80.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A family graveside service celebrating Sylvia’s life will be held from Trinity Cemetery, Sussex Corner, NB
