Obituary of Garnet W. Thompson
Mr. Garnet W. (Guy) Thompson was born in Norton on June 10, 1917; he was the son of the late Mark and Maggie Jane (Fawcett) Thompson and the husband of the late Lura Thompson who passed away in 2006.

He spent 5 years overseas, serving during WWII in England, France, Germany and Holland as a gunner in the 3rd Medium RCA. After the war, he returned to NB and began work for NB TEL as a lineman. The work was laborious as back then all holes for telephone poles were dug by hand and wires were hooked up by climbing the poles. Guy work for NB TEL for 35 years and got to travel all over NB. Many times his crew had to travel quite a distance, particularly after major storms.
After his retirement, Guy went to work with Willis Walker; he was never one to just sit and do nothing. He loved music, dancing and playing cards and could be seen on many a day tending his vegetable garden.
Guy was a member of the Trinity Anglican Church Brotherhood, the Telephone Pioneers and the Sussex Chapter of the Golden 'K'. He was also a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20.
