Obituary of Wayne Donald Parlee
Wayne was born in Sussex Corner on December 17, 1947. He was the son of the late Herbert and Lella (Smith) Parlee and the loving partner of Mary Pauline Redmond.
Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, brother and companion. He was totally devoted to his family and was always there for each and every one of them. Wayne was only ever one phone call away when anyone needed him.
He was a self made man who could operate just about any type of equipment, and if he didn't know how, he would work hard to learn. Wayne loved to play on his tractor and his excavator while building his sub-division, “Waycon Heights” in Sussex Corner.
Wayne went to live and work with Ken Rossiter at his body shop at a very early age and learned the trade and then went on to have his own body shop in later years. He also worked tirelessly to build his business, Parlee General Contracting.
Wayne was a kind and gentle man. He loved nature and could always be found helping any hurt animals that crossed his path. This passion to help hurt animals inspired him to open the Racoon Hotel on Cougle Road with the help of his good friends and neighbors Jeff and Mitch.
Wayne was also an active member of the Goshen Snowmobile Club and also with the Island Vintage Car Club in PEI with his partner Mary.
Wayne was a devoted family man and friend. He was there to always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it; he was truly a jack of all trades and will be missed by many.
Wayne is survived by his partner Mary; his daughters: Lisa Parlee of Apohaqui and Meredith Kiley (Sean Kiley) of Riverview; his son, Todd Parlee of Saint John; the children's mother, Connie Parlee; his sisters: Angela Moore of Saint John, Janice Morrison (Harvey Akerley) of Dutch Valley, and Joanne Parlee (Dana Lynch) of Sussex Corner; his grandchildren: Jacob Parlee, Ronan and Isabella Kiley; his nieces: Bonnie and Heather Morrison, Andrea Hay and Sylvia Norrad, and his nephew Troy Norrad.
