Obituary of Verna Gertrude DeLong
Mrs. Verna Gertrude DeLong was born on December 22, 1939 in Millstream, NB. She was the daughter of the late Vernon and Helen (Craft) Belding.
She loved to care for people and found her calling in the field of homecare, working for Red Cross and Berwick Place.
Verna was strong minded and stubborn willed but her biggest love, was the love she had for her family, nothing was more important to her than she time she spent with the ones she loved. Whether it was her drives with Phil, the camping trip to Goose Crick, the Blue Grass Festival all the girls attended in Rogersville or her much awaited Annual Belding Family Reunion, every second spent in the company of her family made her heart swell with love and pride.
When she wasn't enjoying traveling the roads and spending time with her family, she loved crossword puzzles, knitting, ceramics and her beloved solitaire. She was also known for her love of all things Christmas; the cooking, the family time, and especially the decorations.
She will live on in the hearts of her children: Dale Folkins and his wife Maureen of Penobsquis, Karen Folkins of Sussex Corner, Pamela Folkins and Jeff Snyder of Wards Creek and Joseph Folkins and his wife Susan of Quesnel, BC; her chosen son, David Prosser; her brothers: Daryl Belding and Elsie Dyer of Roachville, Calvin Belding and his wife Cathy of Sussex, Arnold Belding and Rona Craig of Pleasant Ridge, Michael Belding and his wife Alma of Saint John, Malcolm Belding and his wife Brenda of St. Martins; her sisters: Evelyn Raymond of Norton and Brenda Gillespie and her husband David of Westfield; her grandchildren: Christian Adair, Tara Adair and Morgan Thorne, Lacey Gibbon and her husband Kyle, Patrick Payne and his wife Jessica, Benjamin Payne and Katie Lackie, Jamie Folkins and Samantha Preston and Katelyn Folkins; her great grandchildren: Finn, Mia, Ava, Aaron, Claire and James; as well as several nieces and nephews.
