Obituary of Bud Armstrong
Mr. Eric "Bud" Eldon Armstrong was born in Sussex, NB on July 19, 1931 and grew up on Park St. (Carson City); he was the son of the late Charles and Violet (Lavoie) Armstrong and the husband of the late Doreen Mildred (Perkins) Armstrong who passed away in 2002.
Bud was first and foremost a family man; he loved every moment spent with his children and grandchildren no matter what they were doing. He was the strong silent and independent type. He wanted to look after or help anyone he could but never complained or felt sorry for himself through any of his personal trials and tribulations.
He was quick with a joke and definitely quick with a story and even quicker when it came to a hug or flirting with the girls; especially the nurses. He loved to make them all laugh and loved to socialize.
He was a passionate collector of things; he loved yard sale-ing and attending flea markets so that he could acquire more things to make his folk art with; it never seemed to matter how many jars of buttons he had, he always needed more for his art.
Bud had so many hands-on talents; whether it was his art, woodworking or carving - if he saw it, he could make it and when it came to instruments; he may have not been able to read a note but he could play anything he picked up.
He loved to hunt, fish, garden and even do jigsaw puzzles; he always had his hands busy with something. He was a great volunteer and helped with the restoration of Londonderry Church.
Bud was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, Uncle and friend and will be so deeply missed.
Bud will live on in the hearts of his son, Brian (Doug) Armstrong and his wife Debbie of Lower Cove; his daughters: Jo-Ann Armstrong of Sussex and Jill Meraw and her husband Kenny of Red Deer, Alberta; his grandchildren: Jason Armstrong and Emily Kennedy of Red Deer, Matthew Armstrong and his wife Kayelyn of Sussex, Eric, Caleigh and Emma Meraw of Red Deer; his great granddaughter, Lillian; as well as several nieces and nephews.
