Obituary of David William Speight
Mr. David William Speight was born in Saint John on July 22, 1956, he was the son of the late William Edward and Elizabeth Frances (Mason) Speight.
There was nothing more important in David's life than family and trucking. They were the staples in his life and what helped mold him into the man he was. A kind hearted, loving, compassionate and selfless man.
He was always the Good Samaritan and would help anyone in need no matter where he had to go or what he had to do. He was in a hurry one day, when he came upon a camping trailer on the side of the road. Of course being David he stopped to help, later finding out that the man in the camping trailer was an RCMP officer who later wrote a letter to David's work to thank him. On another occasion, a family from Campbellton were attending a shuffleboard tournament when their car broke down. Dave sent the family home in his car and took their car to be fixed and then returned it to them.
He loved his truck and his work friends Donnie and Hector. David was fondly known as the Chipman or Chippies by his grandchildren. Halloween was always so exciting to the kids in the neighborhood, they always knew they would get REAL chips.
David greatly enjoyed his 15 years at TNT Campgrounds where he was the unofficial groundskeeper and an avid golfer.
He enjoyed watching Star Trek, Castle, Murdock Mysteries and Blue Bloods, but nothing was as fun for him than watching his beloved Leafs play.
He and Marsha loved attending Bingo whether it was at the Legion, St. Mary's or Jemseg and they were also avid bowlers in their early years together.
David will live on in the hearts and memories of his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Marsha (Enman) Speight; his son, David John "DJ" and his wife Bonnie Speight; his daughter, Lynn Marie Speight and Chris Albert; ten grandchildren: Madeline, Sheldon, Kassandra, Josephine, Alyssa, Trai-Jordan, Madison,Tristan, Tasha and Khole; mother-in-law, Marion Enman; as well as several extended family members and friends.
On the Morning of October 1, 2016 at the age of 60, Dave went to be with the Lord. He took his last drive in the big rig to the "Glory Land".
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Victor Enman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20 will hold a tribute on Monday evening at 5:45.

On behalf of myself and the family I would like to thank all of you for the support you have shown us over the past 2 1/2 years. I don't think that we would have gotten through it without you. I know that Dave enjoyed seeing and visiting with each and everyone of you. Love to you all, and God Bless!!!!
