Terry Thorne

Obituary of Terry Alexander Travis Thorne

Terry was born in Sussex on June 24, 1968. He spent his growing up years here in Sussex alongside his four siblings. He and DJ were quite close and spent many times adventuring around town, listening to music. Although Terry wasn’t the best of singers, DJ would let him sing for so long and then would suggest that he leave the singing to the artist. From a young age he was known for his kind and giving spirit, which followed him into adulthood. He befriended everyone he met and loved whole heartedly. Terry was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back without a question. He was an all around handy man. He could fix just about anything mechanically. His passion for wheeling and dealing cars was evident by the scrapes and oil stains on his knuckles. Terry spent many hours over the years working on several vehicles. In fact, it would seem every time you turned around, he was working on a different set of wheels. He loved to keep busy with his work, but perhaps one of his favourite places to work was when he got to go out west. Working out in Alberta meant that Terry could get ahead on bills and be able to splurge a bit. His talent with mechanics wasn’t only in the garage, but was put to good use with the carnival. Terry loved his Carney family and worked all over the Atlantic Provinces with them. No matter what other job he may have had on the go, Terry always, always had time to help his second family out. From set up, to tear down, he was there. His pride of being a Carney travelled with him everywhere...literally. Terry had a “Carney Power” sticker posted proudly on the back window of his truck. His passion for mechanics, his giving spirit, and his sense of adventure were nothing quite like his love for his best friend and companion, Rusty. Terry and Rusty were nearly inseparable. The two could always be seen walking together...side by side...Terry with his Tim’s cup and smoke and Rusty with his leash hanging from his mouth. They were best pals, and Terry was so glad to have Rusty by his side. He was a genuine, caring, giving, fun-loving, and strong man. He was a man who could always be counted on, to be there to help, no matter the situation. He will continue to be cherished by many. Terry will live on in the hearts and memories of his son, Lucas Corbett of Darmouth, NS; his father, David Thorne and Dale Muir of Mount Middleton; his mother, Alice Thorne and John Voutour of Sussex; his brothers: David Jr and his wife Kay of Charter's Settlement and Mark and his fiance Amanda of Sussex Corner; his sisters: Cindy Thorne and Laurie Arsenault of Northport, NS and Shaunta Thorne of Sussex; the mother of his son, Jennifer Corbett; his best friend, Rusty; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Terry Thorne of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on October 8, 2016 at the age of 48. He is predeceased by his infant brother, John Wayne Douglas Thorne.
