Obituary of Douglas John Allaby

Mr. Douglas John Allaby was born in Upham, NB on February 16, 1930. He was the son of the late George and Agnes (Payne) Allaby. In his younger years, Doug loved to go salmon fishing and would often tell stories of his successful adventures. While driving for Coca-Cola, he met a beautiful waitress and in 1954 they were married and would later spend over fifty years building their love story. Doug was an exceptional family man who devoted his life to supporting and caring for his loved ones. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his love of life and willingness to put others before himself. His family and friends have been eternally blessed by his playful, optimistic view of life and his ability to bring joy to every situation. He had an wonderful sense of humor and was known for his teasing; especially to his waitresses. He was very social and loved his time with his Tim's buddies and attending church dinners and social gatherings so he could catch up on all his news. Throughout his life, Doug drove for Coca-Cola, worked for Beaver Lumber and was a maintenance and Mr. Fix-it for the School Board. There was nothing that he couldn't fix and he was a very talented woodworker, carpenter and a true Jack of All Trades. There was nothing he couldn't do with a piece of wood. Doug was the epitome of an outdoorsman; as long as he was outside he was happy. Whether he was hunting, fishing or trapping, he was in his element; especially if he had the chance to share it with those he cared about it. Doug was a father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed. Doug will live on in the hearts of his daughters: Irma McLaughlin and her husband Mike of Newline and Marsha Rasmussen and her husband Mike of Iverness, NS; his sons: Mitchell Allaby of Hillsdale, Eric Allaby and Joanne Munroe of Salisbury and John Allaby of Sussex; his grandchildren: Amy, Greg, Dale, Rebecca, Scott, Mark, Adam and Dawn and by his great grandchildren: Ella, Joseph, Marley, Jax, Issabel, Riley, Issabel, Braden, Vanessa, Chelsea, Yasmine and Kenny.
