Obituary of Leona Mary Webb
Mrs. Leona Webb of Sussex passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on October 24, 2016 at the age 82.
Leona was born in Springhill, NS on August 30, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Ottie and Dora (Gilroy) Smith.
Leona graduated from the Normal College in Truro, NS with a degree in teaching. She taught school in Oxford, Springhill and Blockhouse, NS for 18 years and kindergarten in New Brunswick for seven years.
She was also a lifetime member of the United Church of Canada.
She enjoyed modern square dancing, quilting, crocheting and cross stitch. She made many quilts including one for each of her seven grandchildren. She also had a snowman collection, many of which she made herself.
Leona enjoyed skating and even skated the Rideau Canal in Ottawa. Her love for being active didn't stop there; she also enjoyed cross country skiing, swimming at her summer home on Cameron's Beach in Port Howe, NS and playing cards.
She will live on in the hearts of her loving husband of 62 years, Ken; her sons: Kevin and his wife JoAnn of Halifax, NS and Wyman and his wife Janet of Ottawa; her grandchildren: Matthew, Michael (Adrienne), Deanna, Mark, Denise, Samantha, and Rory; her great grandchildren: Lyora and Jackson; her brothers: Ralph (Marilyn) and David; her sister-in-law, Lorraine; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brother, Owen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 - 3pm.
A service celebrating Leona's life will be held at St. Paul's United Church on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
