Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mercer was born in Poodiac on February 28, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Duncan and Tilly (Otis) McLong and was the wife of the late Eldon Mercer who passed away in 1993. Mary was a member of the Southfield United Church; she enjoyed reading, knitting, playing cards and comedy movies. She also loved gardening, especially taking care of her peonies and she was known for her great cooking and her amazing bread and rolls. Mary is survived by her daughter: Pauline and husband Walter Parlee of Waterford; her son: Maynard and wife Adelia of Sussex; six grandchildren: Lonnie Parlee and his wife Patsy of Waterford, Dave Parlee and Cheryl of Waterford, Dale Pearson and her husband Doug of Smiths Creek and Wanda Jones and her husband Mark of Roachville, Randy Mercer and his wife Tammy of Five Points and Beth Mercer and Carl McGinnis of Sussex Corner; eleven great grandchildren: Lisa Pearson, Nick Pearson, Erica Bell and her husband Jesse, Megan Pearson, Katie Stevens and her husband Travis, Justin Parlee, Jeremy Parlee, Jason Parlee, Miranda Jones, Mirissa Jones and Tabitha O'Neill; three great great grandchildren: Nathan Stevens, Reece Stevens and Jack Bell; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Ruby who passed away in 2005; her son, Eric who passed away in 1964 and her sisters: Olive Steeves and Dorothy Campbell and by her brother, Lloyd McLong.
